The US-based company Waymo has announced that its self-driving cabs will be available for booking on London's streets starting next year.

London Becomes Leading European City for Autonomous Ride-Hailing.

London will be established as the pioneering European city to launch an autonomous taxi service, akin to those currently operational in multiple US cities and several American cities using Waymo's innovative technology.

Initial Trials to Start with Safety Drivers.

Waymo announced that its fleet are presently traveling to London and will commence navigating on the city's streets in the coming weeks with trained human specialists in control.

Waymo – initially created as a derivative from Google's autonomous vehicle program and part of the Alphabet family – indicated it would scale up activities and collaborate with the Department for Transport and the city's mobility organization to acquire the essential licenses to offer totally self-driving rides by 2026.
